Why does SunTron need to verify my shipping address?    Top

For fraud prevention purposes, if your billing and shipping addresses are different, we must verify your shipping address. The reason we do this is to ensure that both parties are protected from fraudulent activities. Someone may get your credit card information and your billing address (from your trash can for example) and ship an order to anywhere in the US. Only you, as the cardholder, can add an alternate address on file with the bank and/or Credit Card Company; this keeps our fraud rate down and gives you more peace of mind knowing you are purchasing / shopping with a company who has your best interests in mind.

I am a tax-exempt government employee. How do I place an order with SunTron without being charged for tax?     Top

Place your initial order online and input your local TX tax rate in the appropriate box on our ordering form. After you've submitted your order, fax us at 555-555-5555 with your Government Tax Exempt permit and include the sales order number. If you have made several previous orders, please mention those sales order numbers and SunTron will refund your tax charge on those orders as well. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 1-555-555-5555.

Resellers: Unfortunately, we do not have a reseller discount program available. SunTron negotiates the best possible prices for you and offers these great prices to all of our customers through our web site. Anytime we receive any specials or promotions, we immediately post them on our website for you to take advantage of.

Tax: All customers outside of Texas will not be charged tax. Therefore, customers in those locales do not need to fax or set up any reseller tax exemption form.

For resellers Texas: Please place your first order as normal, and then fax over your reseller permit, along with your S.O number. We will then remove all tax from your order.

How long until my order is processed and shipped?    

Most orders are processed within 24 hours during our normal work week, Mon - Friday. Virtually all items will ship within 72 hours, if by chance product lead time is over 1 week, a member of our customer service department will contact you directly.

Cancellation Policy     

Once an order has been processed any cancellation prior to shipment is subject to a 5% cancellation fee. If order has already shipped our standard Return Policy applies.

Yes, all international orders must first be reviewed to ensure proper shipping charges have been calculated. Prior to shipment an email will be sent to all international customers to approve the shipping charges. Upon shipping approval we will request payment via wire transfer or certified check. Once payment has been received, you order will ship out.

Do solar panels work in cloudy weather?     Top

Solar panel systems do generate solar electricity in cloudy weather but output is diminished. Flat plate solar arrays respond to a 180-degree window, direct sunlight is not needed to generate solar electricity. Home solar systems can even generate 50-70% of their rated output under a bright overcast.

Do solar modules work in cold conditions?    

Yes, in fact, solar arrays perform well in cold conditions. Solar panel systems actually generate more power at lower temperatures, when sunlight is plentiful. This is because PV arrays are electronic devices; they generate electricity from light, not heat. As with many other electronic devices, solar panels operate at higher efficiencies at cooler temperature. During winter months PV systems do produce less solar energy than in the summer, although this caused by shorter days, lower sun angles and greater cloud cover, not cooler temperatures.

What other equipment do I need aside from solar modules?    

Solar systems literally can be as simple as a module and a load; an example would be a direct driven fan, although most PV systems are more complex.  Solar panel systems are designed to supply power; batteries are included in PV systems to store the power and energy generated by the PV array. Battery driven systems also need electronic devices to control their charging or limit the discharging of the batteries. Batteries are inherently DC devices, large systems usually include DC/AC inverters to supply AC power in standard voltages and frequencies enabling the use of standard appliances in the system. Otherwise special DC appliances (usually from the RV or marine industry) must be used. On the electrical side, protective devices such as diodes, fuses, circuit breakers, safety switches and grounds are required to meet electric code safety standards. Most PV systems also require mounting hardware to support and elevate the PV modules. Solar panel systems also require wiring to connect the PV modules and other components together.

Will solar tracking devices improve the performance of my PV system?     Top

Tracking effectiveness is greatly dependent on climate and application. Areas that often experience haze or clouds will not benefit greatly from trackers due to the light being scattered. Also, using tracking devices on applications where the load is the same every month will yield minimal benefit. Under ideal conditions, trackers can improve PV system output per day by 40% but they add complexity, expense and are generally not as strong as fixed mounting systems. Trackers are generally used in applications such as livestock watering where increased output matches increased demand.
